Thursday Night Flames of War at Game Universe

Over the last few months the Battle Badgers have been getting together on Thursday nights (from about 4-10pm) at Game Universe in Franklin, Wisconsin for Flames of War.

Little out of date, but a post I still feel like making. The (not-so) recent release of V4 and its focus on the African campaign presented me with an opportunity to collect something new. My first thought was a pile of crusaders meant to be a part of the 4th County of London Yeomanry 'The Sharpshooters'. Unfortunately, at that time the proper decals weren't part of the kit. So I placed an order with Dom's Decals and refocused myself on a Motor Company to put something together for Adepticon. Here is that Motor Company.

Battle for the Cowl 3

The Battle Badgers are back for our third annual Battle for the Cowl event at Adepticon in Chicago IL. With a total of 42 registered/confirmed participants, this year will be bigger and better than ever before. Players from around the world will merge on Adepticon to prove they have what it takes to become this years Battle for the Cowl Champion.

V4 MidWar at Grognard Games... WITH CAKE!

The Battle Badgers went down to Roselle, IL to visit the good people at Grognard Games this past Saturday and to run a friendly little tournament. We were looking to make some new friends, and play a couple of games. So we brought along our toy soldiers and some cake!

Mid-War Beginner Friendly Flames of War event at 75 points!

We're hosting 3 rounds of v4 Mid-War Flames of War, and there will be cake!

We're interested in finding some new blood in the Flames of War scene at Grognard, so interested in fact, that we'll let you play with our toys. If you've been considering the game, and need to borrow an army, let us know and we'll put something together for you. If you're a salty ol' veteran who'd be willing to make loan of an army, sound off.

We'll be using the battleplan rules, and cards are allowed.

There will be prizes, fun, and the aforementioned cake, as we help Todd celebrate 1 year at Grognard Games & Hobbies.

Battle Badger'ing at TMX!

Tabletop Minions Expo (TMX) is a tabletop wargaming expo and convention in Oshkosh, WI coming up June 3-4, 2017. The focus of TMX is demonstrations, larger multiplayer experiences, and narrative play. TMX is in its first year this year, and is run by Uncle Atom from the Tabletop Minions YouTube channel, along with many other volunteers. There'll be some painting seminars, a live stream from the show, vendors, and lots of games to play!

Official Adepticon Battle for the Cowl FAQ 2017.

Battle for the Cowl 2

With the success of Battle for the Cowl 2016 the Battle Badgers are back for the second annual (we can say that now) Battle for the Cowl event at Adepticon in Chicago IL. At nearly double participants and multiple countries participating this years Battle for the Cowl should prove to be an amazing event! Without further ado the 2017 player handbook.  

Flames of War at Khaos-Kon in Oshkosh

The folks from one of our favorite stores, Adventure Games & Hobby, are putting on their very own new gaming convention, Khaos-Kon and wouldn't you know it, they've asked the Battle Badgers to run a Flames of War tournament!

We had so much fun the last time we headed out to LaCrosse to game with our friends in the Screaming Eagles Game Club, that we're preparing to cross the state to do it again! Tom and Chuck let us know about their upcoming Bulge themed Battle on the Mississippi tournament, and the paint brushes came out. This is just the inspiration I need to finish off my Battered Bastards of Bastogne, thanks fellas!

There are details behind the link above, but at present the tournament will be on Saturday February 18th at Deaf Ear Records, 112 4th St S, in LaCrosse Wisconsin. We'll be playing 3 rounds of Late War, at 1515 point. Hope to see you there.

Our very own Ken took down Battlefront's 'Win a Team Yankee Table' competition with these gorgeous Leopard 2's. After winning the competition these deadly beauties have been terrorizing the tabletop here at the Badger Bunker.

Battle for the Cowl Adepticon 2016 Player Handbook

We've been holding off the release of this document while waiting for the recent official FAQ release to ensure we'd crossed our t's and dotted our i's. Everything looks good, so without further ado, here is the Player's Handbook for the inaugural run of Battle for the Cowl at Adepticon 2016.

Wisconsin Winter War II at Tundra Con

On Saturday, January 9th the Battle Badgers will be heading up to the American Legion Hall on College Ave in Appleton to host the second Wisconsin Winter War with our friends from the Fox River Valley Gaming Club. We had an absolute blast with this event last year! We ended up with about 14 players, and 3 wonderful rounds of Flames of War.

This year we're hoping to do much of the same. Though there are a few changes. First, we'll be playing Late War this go round, and our points total will be next year's 1420 for Late War. We're confident this will shake up a bunch of lists. More details will be coming shortly, but we're hosting a sign-up sheet now. There will be no additional cost, beyond your convention admission, to play in the Wisconsin Winter War.

Finally, even if you can't commit the time to play in our tourney, if you're in the area and have a love for war games, we suggest you take an hour or two to pop in and check out all of the great toys at Tundra Con.
 

Batman Miniatures Game at Adepticon 2016

In a branching out for the Battle Badgers, we're looking to run an event for the Batman Miniatures Game (BMG) at Adepticon 2016.

Ken Horton is leading the effort, and, given his love for all things Batman, he's the organizer we deserve. We're in discussion with Knight Models and Adepticon regarding details, and we'll be posting updates here.

New Heights at Adepticon

It seems we managed to impress a few folks, or at the very least not upset anyone too horribly, with our display and demo efforts at Adepticon last year. I'm basing this assumption on the fact that the folks at Battlefront asked us out again this past weekend for another go at Ranger Demos and a Flames of War display at Adepticon 2015. 

The Cheesehead Championship

It's been decided that the Cheesehead Championship will be coming to Kenosha, WI to our very own Rockheads Comics and Games this year. This 3 round, 1 day tournament will be taking place on Saturday May 9th. We've not solidified a cost, start time, or headcount as of yet, but we're hoping the first two will be similar to years past, and the headcount will be significantly more.
The Signup Form is just below. At this point signing up is an indication of your interest, it does not guarantee you a spot. However, when things are shored up and we're ready to roll, people who have signed up here will be given precedence. So if you're even considering making it out for this one be sure to sign up!

Adepticon Primer Tourney at Adventure Games (RESULTS)

After we had so much fun running the Wisconsin Winter War at Tundracon for our friends at Adventure Games in Oshkosh, we couldn't help but agree to a second helping of Flames of War when Teddy and Char asked us to help out again, but this time at their new location ( 927 Oregon St. Oshkosh Wisconsin).

First off, if you're in the area and have never been to Adventure Games, or haven't been since they've moved, you're missing out. What a fantastic venue! Teddy and Char were able to comfortably host all 16 of us on 8 solid tables. The truly wonderful part? We weren't in anyone else's way either, the store was full of people playing all sorts of different games, or building models. This isn't to say we were pushed to the darkened back of the store and out of the way. No, far from it in fact, we were right up front in a well lit and comfortable spot. This place is really just that sort of big and very well laid out. We're sort of spoiled when it comes to Friendly Local Game Stores here in our home of Kenosha, but to be entirely honest, I'm sort of jealous of what you Oshkosh lot have going on here.

Wisconsin Winter War at TundraCon results

It seems I've been rather lax in my blogging as of late. It's been two weeks since we ran the Wisconsin Winter War at Tundra Con with our friends from Adventure Games in Oshkosh, and I've still not managed to post a thing. Shame on me! Well, I suppose it's better late than never, so here goes.

Our friends in the Fox Valley Gamer's Club have asked us to lend a hand with their first attempt at hosting a new local con they're calling 'Tundra Con'. So, The Battle Badgers will be on hand running a little one day tourney on Saturday January 10th, at the Post 38 Appleton American Legion as part of Tundra Con. We're calling this little tournament the Wisconsin Winter War and would love to see you there.
